As we now enter the year of 2012, so many thoughts and old teachings go through my mind. Most of us know by now that the Mayan Calendar ends in 2012 and that the Maya recorded several of their prophecies regarding this time. We can still learn about these teachings today at ancient Maya sites and through ancient Maya texts and sacred writings. While many assume this calendar end date will be the end of the world as we know it, Mayan elders and respected teachers have clarified the prophecies to express that this time will not be an apocalyptic event, rather it will be a shift in time, a shift in conscious, and a shift in the world as we know it.
These shifts, however, have already begun over the past few years. We have witnessed many events and experienced many changes already that prove to us that the world is in fact already altering and transforming. How this will culminate at the end of 2012, that is left for us to see, but we all must realize and accept that something important is now stirring.
Waking up to these prophecies and understanding what they mean to us on an individual level requires our own reflection. How do you envision 2012? What is shifting in your own life? What personal changes do you want to see in this year and beyond? By meditating on these questions and seeking the wisdom of past and present teachers, you too will come to understand your own purpose for this time. As the world experiences its own transformation, so will each of us experience our own evolution.
Our cherished Maya Master Teacher, Miguel Angel Vergara Calleros shared us with these words in his lecture, “The Maya Prophecy for 2012: Hope for all Humankind”, regarding this time leading up to 2012:
“We are living, in this moment, a process of Change of Consciousness in all of us; in which a catastrophic prophecy or negative saying, is able to be transformed into something positive; we have already been given the power to believe, to create, and to manifest; here, right now, in this moment and in the future, we have the marvellous opportunity to create!”
As we enter 2012, let us focus on our own personal manifestations and creations. We each have the power to create the world we wish to see. What kind of world do you wish to design for yourself?
