Vedanta from Someone Who Lives It

One of the unique things about a Sacred Journey are the tour leaders that set the tone for the journey. We have already featured Padma, one of the tour leaders for our upcoming journey to India. Our local guide, Aarti Bhalla is another amazing person. She is a keen trekker, an ardent nature lover, a passionate environmentalist, and a practitioner of alternative medicine. And beyond this, what qualifies her as a Sacred Journey tour leader? Aarti is also a spiritualist who advocates and lives Vedanta.

What is Vedanta? It is an Indian spiritual philosophy that is surprisingly relevant to modern life and of great help in managing stress. How? Well, one of the great themes of Vedanta is the unity of existence; the divine is in all of us, in everything.

What this means is that whatever we see, whatever we experience, is all a manifestation of this oneness. The divinity in us the same divinity that lies in nature, in others, in the planet. There is no place where we do not exist, or are not part of. Fear and misery arise when we imagine ourselves to be separate. Vedanta means realizing that whether it be someone you love, someone that you find difficult, a beautiful butterfly or a loathsome rat… all these manifold aspects of creation are united in and through divinity. We are all connected. We are not alone.
